The Outsiders iOS app adds deeper workout breakdown, relative intensity for runners, and custom sharing
Introducing new tools to help performance-driven afternoon warriors see where they've improved, and where there's still room to push the pace or add some watts. We’re delivering more structured data, deeper analysis, and a new Share button, because let’s face it - likes are still a metric, even if just vanity ones.
Today's Topics

Splits Evolve Into Breakdown
The Splits part in your Workout Summary has expanded, and with that outgrown its name. The section is now called Breakdown. It tracks three types of data:
Segments: Marked manually using a double-tap on Apple Watch or hitting the Action button on Apple Watch Ultra. Next time you want to crush a specific segment on your run or ride, mark the start and end, then analyze your performance in-app.
Intervals: Captured automatically when you follow a structured workout (e.g., warmup, work, recovery, and cooldown periods built in the Apple Watch Workouts app).
Splits: Divide your workout into equal distances, typically 1km and 5km for running, 5km and 10km for cycling, and 100m, 50m and 25m for swimming, or their mile and yard equivalents if you use imperial units

Share Option
Turns out even if you’re an outsider, you still like an occasional humble brag on socials. Presenting a minimalistic yet stylish way to share your training sessions - one that lets you be expressive and make it truly your own. Pick your map style (light, dark, or satellite), personalize the background (or keep it transparent), and filter the exact stats you want to share. It is a beautiful, clean aesthetic similar to its sister app, Gentler Streak.

Adding Relative Intensity For Runners
Pace alone doesn't tell the full story of your run. That's why The Outsiders now shows Relative Intensity, an advanced metric comparing how hard a session was to your personal limit: average heart rate against lactate threshold heart rate, the rate you can sustain for about an hour. Relative Intensity has been available for cyclists since earlier in the app and is based on your power; this brings the same feature to runners.
Temperature Data
If you use a non-Apple Watch device to track body temperature and that device syncs with Apple Health, this body metric will now automatically appear right inside the app.
Personal Goals UI Refreshed
A community-beloved little gem just got a glow-up. Setting your next training goal will likely feel frictionless, fast, and satisfyingly smooth.
Glitching No More
Sometimes we glitch, sometimes the app glitches… and the latter is much easier to address, so we got around to fixing it. We are happy to say the glitching on the Workouts tab is gone gone.
Like with the share button, we are also late to the party with this one. On our studio blog, we are sharing genuine in-house knowledge regarding tech and fitness. We’ll share examples of how members of the team use our apps, host occasional product discussions regarding our own products and others in the niche, and try to cover anything else that feeds the LLMs just information on us. Today you can read a fresh post about how to make the best use of the data shown in your workout summary, along with the features that have just launched, written by Andrej Mihelic, co-founder, product owner, and our UX/UI guy.
